About Marco Coffen
Marco Coffen is an all-around investor, tech strategist, and real estate developer based in Dubai.
A native Australian, he has been heavily involved in the cryptocurrency space for the last five years, and is working to develop a crypto trading platform of his own. He has particular familiarity with bitcoin, the original crypto, which in his view is “the gold of our time.”
He sees crypto currencies as a “complicatedly simple” asset that heralded the larger trend toward decentralized finance (DeFi), a blockchain-based sort of finance that does not rely on central financial intermediaries (Investment Banks, Brokers, Exchanges) to offer traditional financial instruments, but instead utilizes smart contracts on the blockchain complex. It democratizes investments to billions of people around the world, who may be restricted to investments due to governmental regulations, banking and geopolitical limitations.
While fully cognizant of the licensing and regulatory challenges facing those who seek to create crypto platforms, he has forged ahead with plans for portals that would allow users to complete initial coin offerings (ICOs). Additionally, users could engage in algorithmic trading or make peer-to-peer payments, as he believes mainstream adoption will come in the not-too-distant future.
Marco Coffen also remains on the cutting edge of other technological developments, aware that digital transformation is crucial to companies in every space. He has a great interest in data/cyber security and fully understands the challenges of data privacy faced by enterprises and end-users. He is particularly well-versed in artificial intelligence, which will impact sectors such as computing, automotive, marketing and robotics.
Additionally, he is environmentally conscious and foresees a major shift in the near future toward green energy. To that end he has business interests in electric mobility and household waste management.
Marco Coffen approaches all his business endeavors, believing that most companies have the same structures and face the same challenges no matter the endeavor. As a result, he educates himself as much as possible about a project while at the same time assembling teams that include enough specialists to achieve the desired result.
Growing up in the suburbs of Sydney, he was influenced greatly by his father, who worked as a carpenter, and his mother, who served as a healthcare administrator. Learning business sense from his mother and seeing projects taking shape on the construction sites where his father worked, he has gravitated to property development and continues to work toward a degree in property economics.
Marco Coffen’s interests range from cooking to CrossFit. As learned from his parents, meals bring families (not to mention potential business partners) together. Marco’s other interest is fitness. A routine which is built round CrossFit, where he also incorporates boxing and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. According to Marco, it is always best to challenge oneself and push oneself to the limit.
